Sick of the White Stuff

Some of you may notice that my blog background has suddenly got very bright. It's my fight back against the white stuff.

With the exception of three days we have now had snow and ice on the ground outside for over three weeks. There is no longer any grit in the the tub at the bottom of the road, the snow is still falling and our road resembles an ice-ring. Husband has just got back from rescuing Daughter from work as they shut early so as that the staff could get home as the buses have stopped running.

It no longer looks pretty just downright slippy and dangerous and I'm sick to death of the world being white. My friend Bilbo has some lovely shots of her garden being turned upside-down over the last few days and I have to say I never knew I would love looking at mud quite so much.

I have informed Husband that if we ever win the Lottery or he becomes a multi-millionaire we are going to spend our winters following the England cricket team when they are abroad.

Bring back the colour I miss it.

I agree, white world is lovely for a short time. Here in Holland is the same as in England. First we had a little bit snow and then it turns to glazed frost. I have never been staying so long at home because it too dangerous to walk or to bike:(

I'll swap seasons with you! You can come and stay here when its stinking hot from December-March and I'll go stay at your place. hehe.
I was just saying to hubby yesterday whilst sat in the airconditioning escaping the disgusting 41degree heat outside that when we win lotto we will buy a property where the seasons are opposite and we can escape this horrid summer here. We can only dream hey!

Here too everything is white -- and really it's black and white, with the empty silhouettes of the trees. But it's sunglasses whether you like them or not, everything is so bright. I too am soooooooooo tired of snow. I dressed up the kitchen with some yellow daisies from the florist yesterday, it helped. And I like the new blog look, very pretty. Hope you get some color back soon.

Lol. I'm feeling the same about snow and winter and cold. We always have lots of snow for more that a couple of days up here in the mountains. And although winter has just started I'm already longing for spring. I will soon stitch my first spring project ...

You jinxed me! (or I jinxed myself?)

We now have snow, Bag End is white, the salt/grit pile which was left at 4.30pm last night was nicked in the night by some b*stard (probably the same one who stole the salt bin outside our house between Christmas and New Year) and the garden workmen have given up for today.

Funny old country isn't it? Today we had snow here in Milton Keynes, first since just before Christmas. My horrible (supposedly adult at age 19 and 20) offspring have stolen all the walking gear and taken off to 'play' in the snow while yours truly is stuck indoors trying to work with a fuzzy head. Posted a few pics on Picasa if you're interested. http://picasaweb.google.com/TypeWhizz/2010aGeneral#

Plenty of the white stuff here too. It's the perfect excuse for staying in the warm & doing some stitching. I'll be glad when Spring starts to kick in though. :0)

I love to look at it but it's so impractical especially with a pram...so we are stuck as we have no car :( but it just means I stay in and stitch!!
