A Celebration and A Moan

The celebration first.

Today is officially my Daughter's last day as a student and so yesterday two big cars went down and brought all her stuff back from her halls of residence in London. She is actually coming back home on Tuesday. None of us can believe the 3 years are over, it still seems like only yesterday we went down to visit Roehampton University with her when she was still doing her A levels.

On the way back from London we got a phone call to say she got her results, she had passed all her exams and has got a 2:2. She hasn't had the best of luck this year, getting stuff stolen at Christmas and also being dumped by her boyfriend on Boxing Day followed on from a friend dieing in October so this has effected her grade but Husband, Son and I are so very proud of her. So on the 24th July we will be back down in London attending her graduation ceremony.

Now the moan.

Now what is it the Governments current TV ads say:

Move More Eat Less to get fitter and loose weight.

So this week:

120 lengths/3 km swimming, one 8 mile walk, one 30 minute aerobic session and several walks of about an hour

surely qualifies as moving more

Not one chocolate biscuit, no snacks and generally cutting down

surely qualifies as eating less

Result

I've put 1kg or 2lbs on

My weight has actually gone up not down.

I'm incredibly pi**ed off.

Just been interrupted by the postman

Now I'm a bit happier my parcel from Thread Bear has arrived so a stash picture on the next posting .

Congratulations to your daughter!
I think you were moving a lot so maybe you gained some muscles. Just wait for the next week and the result might be better. The most important is that you feel good and healthy.

Congratulations to your DD - she's done extremely well in circumstances that would have finished many. Enjoy celebrating. :0)
I've heard other folks say this happened to them too - toning muscles, rather than burning calories off. Hope it goes much better soon.
Look forward to seeing that new stash. :0)

It's happened to me, too! My dietician can't explain it. For six weeks I exercised 1 hour or more per day/6 days a week and on all days I watched what I ate and my weight went up! So after sulking for a week or so, I am now excercising 30 minutes a day/5 days a week and watching what I eat and so far I've lost 1.5 kilo in 2 weeks. Go figure. I have decided to ignore the numbers and just "go healthy".

Hi Angela,

Fantastic results for your daughter.. how proud you must be.. But yes as you said, when we look at our children the age factor arrives in our minds. Although you are so active how can you be old, I congratulate myself after a 2 hour stint at the allotment which keeps us busy.. our new little pup still doesn't like 'walkies' although she walks quite tidily down the lane to our plot at the allotment because there are no cars; she is afraid of everything!!
Weight gains when you exercise hard are renoun, isn't it something to do with the muscles keeping water for protection? I am sure I read that some where. I follow a food plan that is basically low fat and of course no sugar!when I keep to it it works but some weeks I crash!!
Take care and hope that stash is exciting! I have just ordered some Blackbird designs so I will need to get up even earlier to get all this stitching done!!Up with the birds no doubt! LOL

Congrats to DD.

Don't be p*** off about the weight thing - you will have converted f*t into muscle with all that swimming and muscle weighs MUCH more. Keep going hon, you will feel so much better for it.
